I have read that you should not mix and match speed ratings. I understand that an "H" rated tire can't handle the speeds that a "V" rated tire can, BUT what is the real problem with having 1 "V" rated tire and 3 "H" rated tires on my car. I do not even antisipate hitting the speeds of an "H" rated tire, let alone a "V" rated tire.

Is there any thing to worry about if I have the 1 "V" rated tire on my car, as far as handling and wear?

I was told that manufacturer's come up with PSI ratings based upon the car's purpose. For example a sports car would have higher tire pressures than a luxury car since the luxury car is designed for a smooth ride. A pickup truck would have higher tire pressures than an SUV since an SUV isn't meant for carrying heavy loads.

I hear these old guys who say that you should follow the manufacturer's recommendation, though they may be just stuck in the 50/70s with their bias/bias ply tires. A radial tire of today is a completely different animal from the bias and bias ply tires of before. I know this because just looking at the sidewall of a bias ply tire will show when it's over or underinflated yet you can't do that with a radial unless it's loaded and not at all inflated.

But then I hear from both performance enthusiasts and fuel economy nuts that I should go with the max sidewall.

So, should I inflate my tire to the sidewall pressure or just go by the manufacturer's recommendation
